Eloise was born in the more isolated parts of Zone 4. Her family consisted of simple, but rather poor farmers, though they always seem to find a way to get by day after day. When it came to wealth, they always had little, but in love they never ran out. Born and taught with those principals in mind, Eloise grew up believing in putting family first before everything else. Working in the fields in the morning, cleaning and babysitting in the afternoons, studying every night; Everything she did, it was for her family. She never questioned this concept till the day her older brother, Elliot, became incredibly ill.
He was always a cheerful and playful child, so even as he laid in bed, as pale as a ghost, he still smiled and told everyone that things would be all right. He dreamed of being a hero like the ones found in a typical shounen manga, so he believed that as long as he had hope and pure goodness, all would be well. Eloise loved her brother, she really did. But as the days went by, she began to hate him and his ill placed optimism. Things always got more worse. They were poor, so no doctor would care for him and the medicine for his disease was extremely expensive. Soon, Elliot’s sickness became officially terminal. It hurted Eloise more than anyone else to tell him the bad news, so every time he said, “ Don’t worry”, it felt like a rusted dagger in her chest. Though she never showed it on her face, his lies were beginning to cut away the last threads holding her together.
When it was confirmed Elliot would die within the next 3 days, he still held on to his hopes of a miraculous recovery despite how much pain he was in. He turned to his sister with joy filled eyes, but was only met with her now frightening, blood red eyes. Her cold and menacing expression wiped the smile from the boy’s face. He knew what she was planning to do, but was in too much shock to believe it. Never in Eloise’s life would she imagine she would be doing this…but she loved her family….she loved her brother. To see him in so much pain and relying on such fruitless dreams, it was too much. The only thing left to do was end this tragedy. Grabbing a pillow, Eloise swiftly got on top of her brother and covered it over his face. He kicked and screamed, but all was useless since he was so sickly and weak now. He soon died. Though Eloise had taken away her brother’s life, she knew she had taken something more precious to him: His dreams of the future.
Since he was suppose to die soon anyways, no one questioned Eloise when they found his dead body. For all they knew, he was able to die a peaceful death thanks to his sister staying loyally by his side. She never told anyone the truth. Unlike most people in her situation, she did not regret killing her brother in the least bit. He was going to die anyways, this way, he at least suffered less. For this cold and logical way of thinking, Eloise began to hate herself. Due to her self-loathing, she began to act more quiet and isolated which people mistook for grieving over her late brother. Eventually months past and her condition got worse by the day. Eloise convinced her family that the memories of her brother were the problem and it would be best if she got away from the farm a bit. They whole heartedly agreed in hopes that she can be happy again. She now currently lives and work in the Zone 2.
